ACTS of Prayer - Part 2
This past Sunday, Pastor Josh Rhodes continued our series, the "ACTS of Prayer," emphasizing the role of "adoration" in our prayer life, and we responded to God in the service with a couple of worship songs. One was the classic worship song called 'I Love You, Lord.' The chorus says,

I love You, Lord
And I lift my voice
To worship, o my soul rejoice
Take joy, my King
In what You hear
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.

This song paints a beautiful picture of how we can come to God. We aren’t coming to Him with an agenda or our needs. We are offering our praise to Him first and foremost because He is worthy of our praise and adoration.

Adoration allows us to express our love for God—not just for what He has done, but for who He is. It shifts our focus from our needs to His nature, deepening our relationship with Him.

I unknowingly kept different aspects of my relationship with God in separate boxes for a long time. Prayer was talking to Him—whether before meals or bedtime. Worship was singing—whether in church or alone in my car. While these statements are true, I sometimes forget that worship and prayer aren’t separate practices. They intertwine, enriching each other and drawing us closer to God.

Whether whispering a prayer in the quiet of your heart or singing a powerful worship song on Sunday, it all counts as adoration.

One of the most powerful ways to express adoration in prayer is through worship. Sometimes, I struggle to find the right words in prayer, but worship music gives me a voice. Singing words of praise helps me articulate my love for God in ways my heart feels but can’t always express on its own. Realizing this has unlocked something incredible in my prayer life—it has expanded my vocabulary of love and adoration for Him.

What I love most about our walk with God is that it is a relationship, not a rigid set of rituals. It’s not a one-way street where we speak, and He listens. He loves us, cares for us, and desires a deep, intimate connection with us. He offers grace and forgiveness; all He asks in return is our trust. Because of this relationship, we don’t have to compartmentalize prayer, worship, or adoration—they can flow together naturally, like a continuous stream.

Whether whispering a prayer in the quiet of your heart or singing a powerful worship song on Sunday, it all counts as adoration.

I want to challenge us all to intentionally use worship as an act of prayer this week. The next time you sing a worship song, let the lyrics become your prayer to God. Tell Him how much you love Him. Express your adoration, not out of obligation but out of delight.

You might be surprised how this simple shift deepens your connection with Him. It could unlock something truly special in your life.
Let the whole earth shout joyfully to God! Sing about the glory of His Name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awe-inspiring are Your works! Your enemies will cringe before You because of Your great strength. The whole earth will worship You and sing praise to You. They will sing praise to Your Name.
