Relationship with God

The most important decision you will ever make is to start a relationship with God by placing your trust in Jesus to be your Savior. Our sin, like a chasm, comes between us and God. The wages or penalty for that sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death. Jesus died in our place and for our sins—He bridged the gap for us. When we place our faith in Christ, our relationship with our Creator is restored.

Start a Relationship with God

The most important decision you will ever make is to start a relationship with God by placing your trust in Jesus to be your Savior. This is how we begin a relationship  with God..

The Gospel can be summarized in three key words: Problem, Solution, Response.
  • The Problem is sin. Sin separates us from God our Father. Everyone has sinned. Sin comes with a cost, and that cost is death. This is not just physical death, but spiritual death. This death is eternal separation from God.
    • Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
    • Romans 6:23a "For the wages of sin is death,"
  • The Solution is Jesus. There is nothing we can do to fix our relationship with God. We cannot be good enough, or do enough good works to get right with God. We need to be rescued from our sin and death. Jesus came to earth to rescue us through His death on the cross. Through His resurrection, we can have forgiveness and a new life.
    • Romans 5:8 "But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
  • The Response that God is looking for is faith, that is trusting and believing in Jesus. God wants us to be rescued and all we need to do is place our trust, or faith, in Jesus for the forgiveness of our sin and as Lord of our lives. We cannot earn our way to heaven. This is a free gift of eternal life and it is by faith alone.
    • Romans 10:13 "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Our sin, like a chasm, comes between us and God. The wages or penalty for that sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death. Jesus died in our place and for our sins. Jesus bridged the gap for us. When we place our faith in Christ, our relationship with our Creator is restored.
John 3:16 summarizes the Gospel (the Good News) in one verse, "For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus, we would love to talk more about this with you. If you would like to place your faith in Christ today, here is a sample prayer you can pray. Remember, it is not the prayer that saves you. It is your faith being expressed in prayer to God.

Dear God, I know I have sinned against you. I believe you sent your only Son to come into this world to die in my place and for my sin. He rose again from the dead, demonstrating that you accepted His payment on my behalf. Today, I’d like to place my trust in Jesus Christ to be my Savior. I turn to Him for the forgiveness of my sins. I come to you in Jesus’ name and because of what He did for me. Amen.
