Life is a blessing, but it’s challenging to navigate well.
King Solomon
  • Proverbs 1:1: The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel.
Agur son of Jakeh
  • Proverbs 30:1a: The words of Agur son of Jakeh
King Lemuel
  • Proverbs 31:1: The words of King Lemuel, a pronouncement that his mother taught him:
The book of Proverbs is a collection of short sayings instructing the reader how to live well. Generally speaking, a proverb is a succinct and persuasive saying proven true by experience. The topics addressed cover aspects of God’s universe and how it operates. Over time, these statements were collected and related to one another. The result is a collection of timeless truths or basic values proven by previous generations. The unifying purpose of the collection is to encourage the reader to live righteously and justly before God.
– Bill Arnold and Bryan Beyer
Teach a youth about the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
– Proverbs 22:6 (HCSB)
"For Christ-followers, regularly hearing from God through His Word is the single most powerful predictor of spiritual growth."
1. Decreases a person’s odds of struggling with select issues.
2. Makes it much less likely that a person will give into certain temptations.
3. Impacts how one feels about their spiritual growth.
4. Produces a more proactive faith.

Read
The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: For learning wisdom and discipline;
for understanding insightful sayings; for receiving prudent instruction in righteousness, justice, and integrity; for teaching shrewdness to the inexperienced, knowledge and discretion to a young man —let a wise person listen and increase learning,
and let a discerning person obtain guidance —for understanding a proverb or a parable,
the words of the wise, and their riddles. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and discipline.
– Proverbs 1:1-7 (HCSB)

“The Bible is a means to bring men [and women] to an intimate and satisfying knowledge of God, that they may enter into Him, that they may delight in His Presence, may taste and know the inner sweetness of the very God Himself in the core and center of their hearts.”
– A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God
