Finding - Part 2 [Notes]

The Christmas season often leaves us searching—for the perfect gifts, a way to manage our overflowing schedules, or just a quiet moment to ourselves. But what if the things we truly need this Christmas aren’t found in the hustle and bustle?

This Advent, we invite you to step away from the noise and discover the deeper gifts our hearts long for—hope, peace, love, and joy—all found in Jesus. Join us over the next four weeks as we explore what it truly means to find fulfillment this Christmas season.
Takeaway: No Jesus, No Peace. Know Jesus, Know Peace.
No Jesus, No Peace. Know Jesus, Know Peace.
  1. Peace with God
For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will accomplish this.
– Isaiah 9:6-7 (HCSB)
Today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David. This will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in cloth and lying in a feeding trough. Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people He favors!
– Luke 2:11-14 (HCSB)
Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.
– John 14:27 (HCSB)
Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
– Romans 5:1 (HCSB)
For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross—whether things on earth or things in heaven.
– Colossians 1:19-20 (HCSB)
No Jesus, No Peace. Know Jesus, Know Peace.
  1. Peace with God
  2. Peace with others
If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.
– Romans 12:18 (HCSB)

  2. Peace with others
  3. Peace within our hearts
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. The law is not against such things.
– Galatians 5:22-23 (HCSB)
Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
– Philippians 4:6-7 (HCSB)
No Jesus, No Peace. Know Jesus, Know Peace.

Discussion Questions //

  1. Can you think of a fight, quarrel, or disagreement you had as a child or teenager? What caused it, and how was it resolved (if it was)?
  2. Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” How does knowing this truth give you confidence in your relationship with God?
  3. Is there someone in your life you need to seek peace with? What steps could you take to follow Paul’s guidance in Romans 12:18, “If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone”?
  4. When life feels overwhelming, how can the promise of Philippians 4:6-7—God’s peace guarding your heart and mind—help you find rest and confidence? What role does prayer play in that process?
  5. Out of the three areas—peace with God, peace with others, and peace in your heart—which one feels most relevant to your life right now, and what’s one step you can take this week to grow in that area?
