Two Lies and The Truth

“So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God;
He created them male and female.“
Genesis 1: 27 HCSB
He created them male and female.“
Genesis 1: 27 HCSB
Many of us struggle with our identity. We spend most of our lives attempting to answer the question: “Who am I?” We search anywhere and everywhere for an adequate answer. We are bombarded with ideas from every direction. Our family, friends, society, social media, all tell us who they think we are or who we ought to be.
However, the truth is we are who God says we are. On Sunday, Bruce reminded us of this invaluable truth. We don’t have the privilege of defining who we are, nor does anyone else. It is God alone who created us, male and female, in His image and in doing so gives us our identity. And what wonderful news this is.

The One who created us knows who we are because of that exact reason — He created us!
The One who created us knows who we are because of that exact reason — He created us! You don’t have to search. You don’t have to listen to what everyone else says you ought to be. You can rest knowing that you are made in God’s image, you are loved, you are valuable, you are God’s workmanship. You are someone that God wants in His family and He sent HIs son Jesus down to take on the punishment you deserved to bring you into that family.
When you accept the gift of life that Christ has offered you, many more things are true of who you are. You are accepted. You are a child of God. You are a co-heir with Christ. You are free from condemnation. You are a citizen of heaven. You are blessed. And the list goes on.
My encouragement to you this week is to memorize some of these different biblical truths. Store away the truth of who God says you are in your heart so when you are faced with the question of who you are, you will no doubt know the truth.
