What's the Point - Part 4
Think back over this past week. What kinds of things did you share with the people in your life? Perhaps you shared some pictures of your family on social media. Maybe you texted a link to a funny YouTube video to a few friends. Or perhaps, you tried a new restaurant in town that you enjoyed so much that you want everyone to know about it. I actually shared all three!

It’s a very natural thing to share about the people, places, and experiences that we love and bring us joy. In fact, we share so freely about these things that we don’t even think about it—we just do it. But when it comes to sharing our faith, oftentimes, it doesn’t feel as natural. Perhaps it’s because we’ve been told it’s not polite to talk about the big three: money, religion, and politics. Or maybe it’s because we’re scared that we won’t have the right words. Or far worse in our mind, that we might offend someone we love.
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.’”
– Romans 10:13-15
How then, do we help fulfill the Great Commission and share the Good News of Jesus with people in our lives? This past Sunday, Pastor Tim concluded his message with four helpful tips that can help us overcome our fears or insecurities around sharing our faith.

By taking time to invest in relationships and building genuine friendships, we are able to more naturally invite others to Christ and our church community.

First, pray for opportunities. We can begin to pray for specific people in our lives (family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers) and ask God to deepen our concern for their spiritual well-being and to open the door of opportunity to share the Gospel with them.

Second, know your story. You know better than anyone what Christ has done for you – people may want to dismiss the Bible and religion, but a changed life is one of the greatest evidences of our faith!

Third, know the message. By remembering three keywords, you are fully equipped to share the Gospel message: the problem is sin, the solution is Jesus, and the response that God is looking for is faith.

And fourth, invest and invite. By taking time to invest in relationships and building genuine friendships, we are able to more naturally invite others to Christ and our church community.

This week, I encourage you to pick one of these four tips to focus on, and as you do, remember what a privilege it is to share the Good News of Jesus with others!
