Immovable - Part 2 [Notes]

Foundations matter. If a building's foundation is not solid, the entire structure may collapse. For Christians, the Bible has always served as a foundation for our faith. In recent years, though, the reliability and authority of Scripture have been called into question. Can we trust the Bible is really the Word of God? Can we know this ancient book is still relevant and applicable to our lives?
Today's Takeaway // We can come to the right conclusions if we approach the Bible in the right way.
1. Approach Scripture with a humble and teachable attitude.
Jesus answered them, “You are deceived, because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God. 1
– Matthew 22:29
1 The Holy Bible: Holman Christian standard version. (Mt 22:29). (2009). Holman Bible Publishers.
Open my eyes so that I may contemplate wonderful things from Your instruction.
– Psalm 119:18 (HCSB)
Teach me, Lord, the meaning of Your statutes, and I will always keep them. Help me understand Your instruction, and I will obey it and follow it with all my heart. Help me stay on the path of Your commands, for I take pleasure in it.
– Psalm 119:33-35 (HCSB)
2. Accept help from the faith community
And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into a mature man with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness. Then we will no longer belittle children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit. But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way intoHim who is the head q —Christ.
– Ephesians 4:11-15 (HCSB)
q 4:15 Col 2:10
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you,, and you know that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
– 2 Timothy 3:14-17 (HCSB)
3. Avail yourself of good Biblical resources.
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.
– 2 Timothy 2:15 (HCSB)
4. Admit the possibility some things are beyond your understanding.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. 2
– Isaiah 55:8-9 (HCSB)
2 The Holy Bible: Holman Christian standard version. (Is 55:8–9). (2009). Holman Bible Publishers.
5. Allow the Bible to interpret itself.

2. Accept help from the faith community
3. Avail yourself of good Biblical resources.
