You Say
I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I'm not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low
Remind me once again just who I am because I need to know
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low
Remind me once again just who I am because I need to know
As I listened to Nicki sing You Say by Lauren Daigle during Sunday’s service, I realized that I often find myself with this mindset. I am not one of “the beautiful people” that our society places so much emphasis on. Most of my life, I have seen myself as invisible…the wallflower, the one who is not enough. For many, questioning our worth is a daily occurrence.
But then we come face to face with Jesus! No longer is our value placed in who others think we are, but in who Jesus says we are. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, it states, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.”
Pastor Tim shared with us that Jesus purposefully called each of His disciples. These men were not what the world would have called worthy of this call. Jesus looked at each disciple and knew each one’s potential, abilities and even failures. In them, He placed His love, His trust, His teachings. These men were exactly who He needed to pour Himself into.
Do you realize that you are exactly who Jesus needs you to be? He places within us His love and trust. Jesus opens the door for us to do amazing things. Not because we deserve to do great things, but because He loves us so much that He wants us to experience this wonder.
I have been blessed to be placed in a ministry where I am accepted and loved beyond measure. I find this joy in greeting the littlest ones of The Ridge as they hurry in to see their faithful volunteers in the Nursery and Preschool Classrooms. But my favorite time is when I get to lead the large group! For those twenty minutes, I am having the best time singing and dancing and laughing with the children. Hearing them say, “Jesus can help me do everything!” and seeing their reactions as they watch Ollie and his friends share a true story from the Bible, is amazing. I am so focused on the task that Jesus has given me, that I lose my feelings of not being enough.
This week, take some time to thank God for sending Jesus, the One who knows who we truly are.

You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And you say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe
