I am in my office at home, watching the snowflakes, and listening to the sound of construction in the other half of our home. For the past two months, we have been in the midst of unplanned construction due to finding mold in the house. This has not been a particularly fun, peaceful time for my mom and me. I am surviving by saying, “It will be wonderful when it is done.” This is a true statement, and as we get closer to completion, I realize I can have one of two reactions: I can have sleepless nights of concern and worry, or I can hold tightly to the gratitude I have in my heart that God has taken care of us throughout this adventure.
Prior to finding the aforementioned mold, my mom had been very sick with fatigue; she had watering eyes that made her seem like she was crying all the time and hives all over her body. These had been her symptoms for a year. As the planned remodeling of her bathroom began, the enemy – mold – was found. With gratitude, I can write that since the mold has been removed, all of her symptoms have also been removed! In the midst of this crazy storm, she found peace!
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Paul states:
The blessings seen during this struggling time cause me to realize how undeserving I am. God took care of Mom, and at just the right time, He brought healing. It is amazing to realize the depth of God’s love for us! His care and concern can overwhelm us with gratitude.
This week, open your eyes to see the blessings that surround you, especially in the midst of the storms of life. As you express your gratitude to God, bask in His goodness! You will be overwhelmed with His love and blessings. It will be wonderful when it is done!
