Running the Race - Part 2 [Notes]

If you have ever run a race like a 5K, you understand the satisfaction of finishing well, but also the difficulty of the race. Similarly, living out the Christian faith brings profound joy and fulfillment, yet it comes with its own set of challenges—we can get tired, discouraged, and stumble along the way.

In this series, "Running the Race," we'll dive into the New Testament book of Titus and uncover five key truths that will help us navigate our spiritual journeys with strength and endurance.

We'll also continue to thank God for Pastor Tim's 40 years of faithfully running his race as our Founding and Senior Pastor and earnestly pray for Pastor Josh and our next generation of leaders as they receive the baton to lead our church into the next season ahead.
Takeaway: The gospel is the most important message ever.
The gospel is the most important message ever.
For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people, instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works.
– Titus 2:11-14 (HCSB)
  1. The gospel is the solution to the past, present and future.
Now brothers, I want to clarify for you the gospel I proclaimed to you; you received it and have taken your stand on it. You are also saved by it, if you hold to the message I proclaimed to you—unless you believed for no purpose.”
– 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 (HCSB)
For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people.
– Titus 2:11 (HCSB)
He was chosen before the foundation of the world but was revealed at the end of the times for you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God
– 1 Peter 1:20-21 (HCSB)
Instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age.
– Titus 2:12 (HCSB)
While we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
– Titus 2:13 (HCSB)
…but our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
– Philippians 3:20 (HCSB)
  1. The gospel is the solution to the past, present and future.
  2. The gospel impacts our relationships with God, others and self.
For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people.
– Titus 2:11 (HCSB)
…God our Savior…wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
– 1 Timothy 2:3b-4 (HCSB)
Instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age.
– Titus 2:12 (HCSB)
It has often been said that these three words—self-controlled, upright, and godly—each look in a different direction. Self-control has reference to ourselves; uprightness to our fellow men; and godliness to God. There is, in other words, nothing unbalanced about the life grace enables us to live. There is an all-roundedness about it. The aim of divine grace is to make us Christians who in every area of life—man-ward, self-ward, and God-ward—are well-pleasing to God
 – D.Campbell
  1. The gospel is the solution to the past, present and future.
  2. The gospel impacts our relationships with God, others and self.
  3. The gospel is the amazing work of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • The problem is sin (missing the mark with God).
  • The solution is Jesus (because of who He is and what He did for us)
  • The response God is looking for is faith (trust).
