You’re invited to join us for “Welcome To The Ridge,” a six-week series focused on our past, present, and future as a church. Whether you’ve been at The Ridge for a month, a year, ten years, or thirty, our hope is that this series will give us all a clear, compelling, and unifying vision of who we are, where we’ve been, where we are, and where God is leading us in the future. Each week, we’ll study a different Bible passage that has shaped us, guided us, and kept us focused. This series is not only for those who call The Ridge home, but it’s also a perfect opportunity to invite others to come and experience it with you. Welcome To The Ridge!
Takeaway: As we continue to gather together and prepare to go together, let’s pray, participate, and be patient.

Week 2 (Present)

Week 3 (Future)

- Pray
During those days He went out to the mountain to pray and spent all night in prayer to God. When daylight came, He summoned His disciples, and He chose twelve of them—He also named them apostles: Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot; Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
– Luke 6:12-16 (HCSB)
– Luke 6:12-16 (HCSB)
“Before Jesus chose the twelve disciples, He spent an entire night in prayer. Jesus had a large number of disciples, and from those He picked twelve who were to be close to Him. These were specifically called apostles as opposed to the term disciples.”
– Dr. John Martin, Bible Knowledge Commentary
– Dr. John Martin, Bible Knowledge Commentary
“Hudson Taylor, a British missionary to China, said, ‘Do not have your concert first, and then tune your instrument afterwards. Begin the day with the Word of God and prayer, and get first of all into harmony with Him.’ I love that! For us to love our neighbor, we have to be in harmony with Him. That begins with prayer.”

Summoning the Twelve, He gave them power and authority over all the demons, and power to heal diseases. Then He sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
– Luke 9:1-2 (HCSB)
– Luke 9:1-2 (HCSB)
When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus all that they had done. He took them along and withdrew privately to a town called Bethsaida. When the crowds found out, they followed Him. He welcomed them, spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and cured those who needed healing. Late in the day, the Twelve approached and said to Him, “Send the crowd away, so they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find food and lodging, because we are in a deserted place here.” “You give them something to eat,” He told them. “We have no more than five loaves and two fish,” they said, “unless we go and buy food for all these people.” (For about 5,000 men were there.) Then He told His disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about 50 each.” They did so, and had them all sit down. Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them. He kept giving them to the disciples to set before the crowd. Everyone ate and was filled. Then they picked up 12 baskets of leftover pieces.

Patient: able to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious
He went out and made His way as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed Him. When He reached the place, He told them, ‘Pray that you may not enter into temptation.’ Then He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and began to pray, ‘Father, if You are willing, take this cup away from Me—nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.’ Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. Being in anguish, He prayed more fervently, and His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground. When He got up from prayer and came to the disciples, He found them sleeping, exhausted from their grief. ‘Why are you sleeping?’ He asked them. ‘Get up and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation.’”
