Praise The Lord

Aug 24, 2025    Josh Rhodes

From the first “hallelujah” to the last, Psalm 150 reminds us that worship is the response of every living thing to the greatness of God. As we wrap up our "Why We Sing" series, we reflect on why praising the Lord isn’t just for Sundays—it’s for every day, every season, and every breath we take.

With The Ridge Online, you can join us every Sunday live at 9a and 11a, and our gatherings are available on demand starting at 2p! Join us at https://theridge.church/messages

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. Pastor Josh shared about being overwhelmed by the greatness and power of God while standing on the pier at night. Can you think of a time when you felt that way, maybe in a worship setting, out in creation, or somewhere else?

2. Where we praise. Read Psalm 150:1. In addition to Sundays, where and when do you find yourself drawn to worship God through song? (For example: while driving, cooking in the kitchen with worship music on, etc.)

3. Why we praise. Read Psalm 150:2. Which of God’s mighty acts or attributes stands out to you right now, and why? How does remembering these things shape your worship?

4. How we praise. Read Psalm 150:3–5. What are some ways you have, or perhaps want to, express praise to God beyond just singing? (For example: playing an instrument, bowing in prayer, lifting hands in praise, etc.)

5. Who praises. Read Psalm 150:6. The psalmist calls on “everything that breathes” to praise the Lord. How does it impact you to think about the entirety of creation (people, animals, birds, trees, even the songs of whales) joining together in praise? How does this connect back to God giving life in Genesis 1–2 and the picture of all creation worshiping in Revelation?

6. Looking back over the “Why We Sing” series, what has been your biggest personal takeaway? What is one practical step you can take this week to make singing praise to God a more natural and joyful part of your life?
